HKC's Guizhou Factory Officially Commences Production, Empowering New Development in the E-paper Industry
2025-05-08

On May 7, Guizhou Huike Jinyang Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of HKC Corporation, held a grand commencement ceremony for its production launch. Relevant leaders from the Gui'an New Area, department heads, and partners including E Ink Holdings were invited to attend, jointly witnessing another significant milestone for HKC in the field of new display technologies.

The establishment of the Gui'an Huike E-paper Production Base marks a crucial step for HKC in responding to China's "dual carbon" strategy and enhancing the industrial chain layout in the central and western regions. The project currently in production is HKC's small and medium-sized intelligent terminal display module project, with a total investment of RMB 5.5 billion. It will be constructed in two phases and is expected to generate an annual output value of approximately RMB 7 billion upon full capacity. The first phase, with an investment of RMB 3.333 billion, will primarily produce e-paper display modules, display modules for smart wearables, and other products, with an expected full-capacity output value of around RMB 4 billion.

As HKC's first digital e-paper megafactory in the southwestern region, the project plans to build dedicated production lines for large-sized e-paper displays. Phase one includes 12 small production lines and 8 large-sized complete product production lines, as well as 16 small production lines and 4 large-sized module production lines. Additionally, it will manufacture complete e-paper products, modules, SMT components, injection-molded parts, lenses, film materials, packaging materials, and other core components, forming a complete closed-loop from R&D to manufacturing. By leveraging large-scale production to reduce costs, it will provide capacity guarantees for large-scale applications in commercial displays, transportation, and other sectors.

Currently, HKC's e-paper products cover a full range of sizes from 1.54 inches to 75 inches, with the capability to independently produce full-color displays and TFT backplane modules. These products are widely used in areas such as retail price tags, medical information boards, and smart logistics display boards. The newly launched Gui'an base will focus on three key directions:

Smart Retail: Promoting ultra-low-power e-paper advertising screens to replace traditional LED displays, thereby reducing operational costs for supermarkets and shopping malls while enhancing marketing flexibility, and bringing new development opportunities to the retail industry.

Green Transportation: Integrating solar technology to deploy smart bus stop signs and traffic information displays, enabling dynamic schedule updates and low-carbon operation and maintenance, and supporting the green transformation of the transportation sector.

Smart Office and Education: Driving the adoption of e-paper whiteboards, desk signs, and other products to reduce paper consumption, empower digital collaboration, and provide more efficient and environmentally friendly solutions for office and educational environments.

Since the construction of its Zhengzhou factory, HKC has been adhering to the concept of megafactories to embark on a path of transformation.

The construction and commencement of production at the Gui'an factory are also dedicated to creating an information-based, intelligent, digital workshop and a 5G fully connected factory, empowering intelligent manufacturing. In terms of information construction, it focuses on the module sector, integrating the production processes of the ecological chain, establishing an efficient management and control platform, connecting internal systems, and achieving comprehensive information transparency. In terms of intelligent advancement, it introduces AGV carts for precise material delivery, significantly improving production efficiency. The management model adopts a unified strategy, streamlining the organizational team, and notably enhancing communication and collaboration efficiency.

With the Gui'an base as its core, HKC will continue to deepen technological R&D and scenario innovation, aiming to reduce the cost of large-sized e-paper displays by 30% within three years and promote the widespread adoption of its products in fields such as smart cities and industrial IoT. Meanwhile, HKC actively practices the concept of green manufacturing, contributing to Guizhou's strategy of "ecological priority and green development" through the utilization of clean energy and a circular production system.

The official commencement of production at HKC's Gui'an factory signifies a further deepening of HKC's layout in the e-paper industry. It will inject new impetus into the industry's development and propel the e-paper industry to new heights.
