HKC Unveils the World's First a-Si In-Vehicle TRD + TDDI Screen, Redefining the New Driving Intelligence Experience
2025-06-13

With the rapid development of smart vehicles and the continuous evolution of intelligent cockpits, highly integrated display solutions have emerged as a new favorite in the industry. TDDI (Touch and Display Driver Integration) technology, with its advantages of high efficiency and low cost, is gradually replacing traditional display technologies and becoming the mainstream solution in the automotive display sector. HKC, leveraging its Tri-gate architecture combined with TDDI technology, not only enhances display performance but also significantly reduces costs, further promoting the concepts of green travel and sustainable development in the automotive industry.

This 12.3-inch in-vehicle display is a groundbreaking product in China, integrating Tri-gate technology based on a-Si material with an in-cell touchscreen. Compared to LTPS (Low Temperature Poly-silicon) screen technology, it offers high reliability and low cost, significantly improving the driving efficiency and stability of automotive displays, and holding significant value in the premium display market.

TDDI Integrated Design: Ultimate Integration, Lower Costs

The developed 12.3-inch in-vehicle display utilizes Tri-gate (TRD) driving based on a-Si material, enabling it to reduce the use of driver chips and peripheral components at the same resolution, thereby lowering costs. Simultaneously, the reduction in components saves space, allowing more transistors to be integrated into a smaller area to support driving 2K/4K or even higher-resolution screens.

Moreover, the product supports multi-touch functionality, gloved operation, and wet-hand operation, meeting various human-machine interaction scenario requirements.

Narrow Bezel: Enhanced Viewing Angle, More Immersive Visuals

By leveraging the Tri-gate architecture paired with GDL (Gate Driver Less) circuitry, an ultra-narrow bezel design is achieved, effectively increasing the screen-to-body ratio and further enhancing the visual experience. The product also improves the contrast ratio (1800:1) through rapid response and precise zonal backlight control, making bright areas brighter and dark areas deeper. Especially in Mini-LED backlight systems, it presents clearer picture details, reducing afterimages and blurriness.

Additionally, the reduction in screen surface reflectance further enhances picture clarity, ensuring that visual impairments caused by changes in ambient light, whether during snowy days or nighttime driving, are minimized, reducing visual distractions and enhancing driving safety, all while achieving energy efficiency and excellent picture quality.

Reliability: High Dependability and Durability

Given the complex environment inside vehicles, automotive displays must meet extremely high requirements. This product not only passes stringent automotive-grade certifications (AEC-Q100) but also adheres to the automotive industry's top quality standards (IATF-16949) during the manufacturing process. It maintains stable display and precise touch performance even in extreme environments, safeguarding driving safety.

Low Cost: Optimized Adaptation of a-Si Panels

Currently, high-end automotive LCD screens, due to their high resolution and large size, require more display and touch channels, leading to an increase in chip quantity and costs. HKC has made the TRD driving technology based on a-Si material a reality through this validation. Moreover, building upon the mature a-Si technology, it is compatible with existing production lines, significantly shortening customer development cycles. Additionally, due to the good compatibility of a-Si panels, it ensures that the product can be adapted to various types of automotive displays, reducing matching costs for automotive manufacturers.

Amidst the global wave of automotive intelligence and electrification, HKC, with its forward-looking布局 (layout) and solid technology, has continuously deepened its presence in the front-end market of the automotive display sector over the past two years, optimizing its product structure. In 2024, its shipments of front-end automotive display products have steadily increased, surging by 310% year-on-year. Leveraging its years of profound accumulation in the display field, HKC, driven by innovation, is advancing from "Made in China" to the global stage, assisting global automotive manufacturers in reshaping the value benchmark of smart vehicles.
