What Exactly Is HMO Technology?
HMO stands for High Mobility Oxide. It is a next-generation core driving technology for display panels independently developed by HKC. The HMO Display Technology refers to the end-to-end solution equipped with HMO panels.

It is a premium esports display solution integrating high picture quality, ultra-fast dynamic response, low power consumption and ultra-narrow bezels. Currently, this technology has realized mass production of 2K 540Hz IPS monitors for the first time, ushering esports displays into a new era where ultra-high refresh rate and superior image quality can be achieved simultaneously.
(I) High PQ
Adopting premium material specifications exceeding industry standards, HMO oxide technology integrates next-generation high-concentration color filters and high-mobility oxide materials. It enables precise purification of RGB primary colors and suppresses color contamination, greatly expanding color gamut coverage and improving color purity. The color saturation and image reproduction of products can fully match the picture quality performance of high-end OLED panels.
(II) Best Motion Ability
HKC exclusively developed and customized the High Fast Liquid, an ultra-fast response liquid crystal material. By significantly accelerating the rotation speed of liquid crystal molecules, it delivers native ultra-low Gray-to-Gray (GTG) response time below 1ms, tackling the long-standing pain points of traditional screens: motion blur, high latency and washed-out colors.
Powerfully driven by the high-mobility HMO backplane, the synergy of the two technologies boosts the native response speed by more than 2 times compared with conventional IPS panels, fundamentally eliminating motion blur and image stuttering.
Meanwhile, it features full compatibility with Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology to deliver flicker-free performance across the entire refresh rate range. Dynamic images transition smoothly and steadily, unlocking an immersive, ultra-fluid professional esports experience in all aspects.
(III) Oxide TFT
Leveraging the high mobility of the HMO Oxide TFT backplane, miniaturized TFT device design is achievable. The device size is only 1/4 of conventional a-Si TFTs used in IPS panels. This drastically reduces light-shielding areas inside pixels, effectively expanding the pixel aperture ratio and boosting panel light transmittance by approximately 8%~25%, resulting in higher screen brightness and more transparent colors.
Miniaturized devices also accommodate more pixels to support higher PPI (Pixels Per Inch) output, rendering sharp and intricate image details.
In addition, the advantages of high-mobility driving enable streamlined bezel structures, narrowing the bezel width by roughly 40% to realize an ultra-narrow bezel design and significantly enhance screen immersion.
Conventional IPS vs. HMO IPS
While retaining the inherent strengths of traditional IPS — wide viewing angles and high color accuracy — HKC HMO Display Technology delivers comprehensive enhancements targeting core esports requirements: response speed, refresh rate, power consumption and black level performance.
Furthermore, HMO Display Technology has been upgraded in terms of ultra-fast response and reliability.
(I) Ultra-Fast Response
Capitalizing on HMO’s high mobility to meet consumer demand for ultra-high refresh rates, HKC specially developed High Fast Liquid. Supported jointly by HMO and HFL technologies, the maximum native refresh rate of esports monitors can exceed 1300Hz, with a native response time of 3.8ms and ultra-fast response speed under 1ms. It ensures seamless motion while delivering ultimate esports performance.
(II) Reliability
HMO oxide devices boast excellent environmental stability. Even after exposure to extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C to 100°C and prolonged strong light irradiation, variations in device characteristics, leakage current and brightness remain minimal. This helps maintain consistent grayscale, brightness and image presentation.
