Building a green "vision" | HKC was awarded the first carbon footprint certification in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

The first batch of enterprises to obtain carbon footprint identification certification

On December 28, three of HKC's displays won the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area carbon footprint identification certificate issued by the Shenzhen Institute of Metrology Quality Testing, and it was also the first company to win the carbon footprint identification certification. This award once again highlights HKC's outstanding performance in sustainable development, helping to achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

What is a carbon footprint?

Carbon footprint refers to the collection of greenhouse gas emissions caused by enterprises, activities, products or individuals through transportation, food production and consumption, and various production processes. Carbon footprint certification can further understand the proportion of greenhouse gas emissions in the whole life cycle of the industry, and accelerate the industrial upgrading. At present, more than 10 countries and regions such as the United Kingdom, the European Union, the United States, South Korea, and Japan have launched carbon footprint labeling systems, and there is no unified carbon footprint labeling system and method in China.

In 2023, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Shenzhen-Hong Kong) will benchmark international standards, formulate a scientific and reasonable certification implementation plan, take the lead in establishing a carbon footprint certification system across the country, and launch the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area carbon footprint certification public service platform on November 30. HKC quickly responded and became one of the first enterprises to apply for carbon footprint identification certification. After nearly a month of data technology review and on-site verification, it won the carbon footprint identification certification on December 28.

Innovative technologies escort green development

As a leader in the field of semiconductor display, HKC has been practicing the concept of sustainable development and escorting green development with innovative technology. The certified displays are designed with high efficiency and low energy consumption. First, in terms of product materials, HKC displays use environmentally friendly materials to reduce resource consumption in the production process. Secondly, in the production process, the continuous improvement of the manufacturing process has improved the energy utilization efficiency and reduced the greenhouse gas emissions in the production process. In addition, the product has been optimized in transportation, packaging and other aspects to achieve a minimum carbon footprint.

After obtaining the certification, Shen Daliang, research and development director of HKC Display, said that HKC will continue to firmly implement a comprehensive energy efficiency plan, improve the energy efficiency in production and operation, reduce the carbon footprint of products through innovation and technological improvement, and become a leading green enterprise in the industry! At the same time, the company's research and development team has developed a series of high-efficiency, low-energy products that significantly reduce carbon emissions during the production process and at the use stage.

HKC will continue to deepen technological innovation, constantly innovate, and create more green and efficient products. Fulfill corporate social responsibility through practical actions, help build a virtuous cycle of symbiosis with the environment, and jointly embrace a better future of sustainable development.
